PLÁCIDO DOMINGO - special message
Special message from Plácido Domingo
Unfortunately Plácido Domingo had to cancel his visit to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in February 2010. His next scheduled appearance in London is in Simon Boccanegra in July 2010.
Plácido Domingo is one of the world's greatest tenors. Constantly pushing the boundaries of opera he redefined the role of the singer, combining exceptional musicianship and acting skills which together bring a velvety burnish to his hugely expressive voice. As well as his tenor roles he is also an accomplished conductor. Domingo is the first winner of the Birgit Nilsson prize, the founder of Operalia, and General Director of both the Washington and Los Angeles' Opera. He will speak exclusively for the ROH Insight programme about the future of opera, how to train future generations of professional singers and how to encourage new audiences in order to keep opera alive and energised.
See the latest DVD release including the famous Tosca Live from Rome, at the settings and times specified by Puccini.
