Patricia Johnson, Sadler’s Wells Opera Orchestra
In the 1960s and 1970s, the London-based Sadler’s Wells Company was one of the most popular opera companies in Britain. It promoted lyrical repertoire to a wide audience, notably by performing foreign works with adapted English librettos. In his early career, Colin Davis was regularly associated with the company and left this interesting and rare English version of Carmen adapted by critic Hermann Klein, with Patricia Johnson embodying the main role.
