Here is a pioneer recording by Dutch ensemble Syntagma Musicum, devoted to the great Franco-Flemish figure of 15th-century Guillaume Dufay, his contemporaries, and his sources of inspiration. It includes both sacred and secular Dufay’s music, notably some rarely recorded pieces from the Bologna manuscript, and highlights his connection with the English tradition and the ending French school of Ars nova. This album features the young countertenor René Jacobs, in one of his earliest recordings!
