Dvorák & Smetana: String Quartets

Recorded live at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Alban Berg Quartett captures the poetic spirit of these works by Dvorák and Smetana. Reviewing the "American" quartet, Gramophone wrote: "They maintain the tension and the focus right through... each movement soars. Few performances have communicated such pleasure in motion in the first movement as this, while the Lento has the lilt of true songfulness - the kind of thing many aspire to, but few seem able to achieve."
