Jacques-Martin Hotteterre was the greatest flute player and theoretician of its time. Originating from a very ancient dynasty of wind instruments-makers, his 1707 treaty Principles of Transverse Flute, Recorder and Oboe was an absolute reference of musical literature throughout all Europe. These are the six lively and danceable trio sonatas from the 1712 collection, written for two recorders and continuo. They are performed by the well-named Quadro Hotteterre, featuring notably Kees Boeke and Bob van Asperen, and are coupled with a suite for two recorders in which Kees Boeke is joined by the legendary Frans Brüggen.
