Frank Peter Zimmermann always showed a particular affinity with the Classical repertoire, and especially Mozart, whose concertos inaugurated the violinist’s partnership with EMI in 1984. A few years later, Zimmermann threw himself into the ambitious project of recording the fifteen last sonatas along with Alexander Lonquich, his long-time partner at the piano. Recorded between 1987 and 1990, reunited and made available for the first time to digital partners, these sonatas reveal the mutual understanding of both musicians and the unsurpassable elegance of Zimmermann’s touch.
