Benjamin Britten, Sir William Walton, George Gershwin, Bruce MacCombie, Joan Tower
The complete discography of Sharon Isbin, one of the most skilled and adventurous guitarists of our time, is now fully available digitally. This 1994 album, Nightshade Rounds, focuses on nocturnal pieces including two American works which she was the dedicatee, Bruce MacCombie’s Nightshade Rounds and Joan Tower’s Clocks. It also includes Britten’s only piece for the guitar (the fascinating Nocturnal After Dowland), Walton’s Bagatelles and striking arrangements of Gershwin’s piano pieces by Isbin’s long-time partner Carlos Barbosa-Lima.
