The core of Max Reger’s catalogue is organ music, a genre in which he was the main German representative at the turn of the century. This recording by Christoph Bossert was made on a beautiful though now endangered and left abandoned organ in Strasbourg, for the building of which Reger himself was consulted in 1909. It includes an imposing set of variations, a collection of chorale preludes and more intimate works such as the lovely Romance.
