Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev
Music of the ballet Petrushka lends itself well to piano transcription, as Stravinsky proved in 1912 by writing Three Movements he dedicated to Artur Rubinstein, or later on by arranging the score for piano four-hands. Here is another transcription, this time of the complete ballet score, but for solo piano! Written by the hand of Mikhail Rudy, it is here performed by the arranger himself, and coupled with another transcription of Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet highlights.
