This Neville Marriner album of German and Italian baroque intertwines sacred works by Bach and Scarlatti (including Su le sponde del Tebro, one of the most famous cantatas of the latter, with virtuoso parts of trumpet) and concertos by Albinoni, Vivaldi and Telemann. Soloists include singers Janet Baker and Helen Donath, and instrumentalists Maurice André at the trumpet, Iona Brown at the violin and Daniel Arrignon at the oboe.
