Georg Friedrich Händel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Here is a rarely recorded version of Handel’s most famous oratorio Messiah. It had been requested by Mozart for performances in Vienna, and therefore its libretto was adapted in German for the local audience. Mozart re-orchestrated the work, notably adding a few more instruments to the wind section, and this adaptation contributed to the later success of the work outside Britain. This version by Michel Corboz with such soloists as Marcos Fink is one of the rare recordings available.
