Édouard Lalo, André Caplet
Mitwirkende:
André Caplet’s Épiphanie for cello and orchestra, inspired by an old Ethiopian tale, is a fascinating work of a startling modernity, perhaps the most ambitious of its composer, foreshadowing Florentz and Dutilleux. Here is the world premiere recording, which we are making available for the first time on digital platforms. It was made in 1980 by a high-level team: Frédéric Lodéon at the cello with Charles Dutoit conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra, who were rewarded with numerous prizes for this ambitious album, which also includes Lalo’s concerto.
