This album is one of the very last Cziffra ever made for EMI France and it has a particularly moving story: after the tragic death of his son György Jr. in the mysterious fire of his appartement, Cziffra went through very difficult times and put his career on hold, before his comeback in 1985. He then recorded an album including some of Liszt’s most beautiful works in the Saint-Frambourg chapel he had acquired previously, which he dedicated to the memory of his son.
