Jean Mouillère was one of the finest representatives of the French school of violin. Having trained under the patronage of Joseph Calvet, founder of the famous homonymous string quartet, he developed a strong attachment to chamber music with the famous Quatuor Via Nova and led in parallel to his solo career. This album highlights the latter activity with a selection of sonatas by Mozart performed alongside Michèle Boegner (also including the beautiful set of variations on Albanese’s Hélas, j’ai perdu mon amant).
