Following the release of the studio recording of Thomas Bangalter’s first independent orchestral work comes this spectacular ballet production, filmed at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris.
First commissioned by the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for his ballet ensemble and premiered in the first phase by the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine under the direction of Romain Dumas, this second phase unites the music with the image.
In this substantial lyrical work, the co-founder of Daft Punk reinvents his approach to composition, drawing from a love of Baroque music as much as American minimalism. Rather than drawing from electronic music resources, this score involves the large-scale traditional force of a symphony – embracing the history of orchestral ballet music in a gesture both personal and collaborative.
The work comprises 23 scenes which delve into the legacy shared by all of humankind, through the ancient and modern myths that reflect and shape us.
The performance is released in a dual-format package with standard blu-ray + 4k UHD blu-ray.
