Igor Stravinsky, Anatoly Lyadov
For the first time available as individual album, this recording by Dmitrij Kitajenko and the Bergen PO which he was musical director for ten years contains beautiful rendition of the Firebird Suite’s 1919 version and the pleasant Norwegian Moods. It also highlights the Russian composer Anatoly Lyadov, who was initially proposed to Diaghilev for composing the music for the Firebird but had to decline and made way to the young Stravinsky! Many of his refined orchestral miniatures are featured on this album from the Enchanted Lake to A Musical Snuffbox and Kikimora. The clarity and precision of Bergen Philharmonic splendid tones make wonders in these lovely and underrated works.
