Sir William Walton, Constant Lambert
A great admirer of William Walton he recorded many times, André Previn left in 1973 one of the major albums ever dedicated to the composer, with the finely orchestrated second symphony, and two overtures, the majestic Portsmouth Point and the cheerful Scapino, sometimes described as a British Till Eulenspiegel. It is associated with Constant Lambert’s most successful piece The Rio Grande, inspired by jazz and Afro-American music.
