On this July 14th, French national day, we are celebrating the richness and diversity of classical music from France. Though it was obviously not the core repertoire of Otto Klemperer, the conductor let a couple of recordings, notably this captivating version of Berlioz’ Fantastique. It is coupled with overtures of operas by Auber and Offenbach, dating back from the 78-rpm era, and made available on DSP for the very first time.
