January 15th 2025 will mark the 250th anniversary of Giovanni Battista Sammartini, a prolific composer mostly active in Milan towards the end of the Baroque era, who was highly regarded by his contemporaries and the following generation of musicians as an important contributor to the development of the classical symphony. Fallen into neglect, his music has been rarely recorded, except by early music trailblazers such as Jean-François Paillard.
