Virtuoso Georges Cziffra excelled at improvising after famous classical or popular tunes, for the greatest delight of his concert audience. This collection of his earliest French recordings contains a florilegium of his finest arrangements and improvisations (after the Flight of the Bumblebee, the Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka etc.) and are an obvious nod to the tutelary figure of Liszt. It also includes a short improvisation after the popular French tune Le pont d’Avignon, recently exhumed from the archive!
