This album from the John Barbirolli discography features a brand new remastering of the epic tone poem Ein Heldenleben by Richard Strauss and a florilegium of English and Irish music recordings from the 78 rpm era, some of the earliest recordings ever made by the conductor! They include his first rendition of Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro, the musical piece Barbirolli recorded most throughout his career (no less than five times!) and rare stage works by Frederick Rosse and William Wallace.
