October 11th will mark the 250th anniversary of Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville, one of the last great representatives of the French baroque school. He was praised above all for his spectacular motets, much inspired by Italian music, which earned him a great fame: notably the Venite exultemus granted him a coveted position at the Royal Chapel. We can hear it performed by French baroque pioneer Jean-François Paillard, coupled with the Dominus regnavit. Featuring Colette Alliot-Lugaz and Philippe Huttenlocher.
