Taneyev: Concert Suite, Op. 28 - Tartini: "Devil's Trill" Sonata - Mozart: Violin Sonata No. 32, K. 454

Sergey Taneyev was a prominent figure of Russian musical life in late 19th century, as composer, theoretician and teacher. Oistrakh was an early promoter of his music, in particular the Concert Suite for violin and orchestra which he often performed. The 1956 recording of this shimmering score, still rare on record, was one of the very first of Taneyev’s music to circulate outside Russia. It is coupled with violin sonatas by Mozart and Tartini (featuring Vladimir Yampolsky).
