Jean Absil
Artista protagonista:
Robin Hill, Peter Wiltschinsky
February 2nd will mark fifty years since the passing of Belgian composer Jean Absil. This discreet figure of modern music can hardly be attached to a specific movement or school, finding inspiration through both late Romantic masters and serialists. He composed a lot for the guitar (solo or duet) in his late years, notably the beautiful Pieces, Op. 119 here performed by the virtuoso Hill/Wiltschinsky duet. This album gathers all their recordings for Teldec, including original repertoire for two guitars (Sor, Giuliani…) and witty transcriptions of classical hits (Bach, Scarlatti, Ravel, Fauré…)
