Johann Strauss, Johann Strauss II, Johann Strauss
Lively music from the immortal Waltz King: Johann Strauss the elder, composer of the famous Radetzky March, had originally pushed his son forwards to find a steady job in the corridors of officialdom; instead, that son followed his musical vocation – and won world fame as a thrilling conductor and composer of spirited dance music and operettas rich in melody. Honoured by colleagues and audiences alike, he went down in the history of music as the “Waltz King”. His Blue Danube waltz has been dubbed Austria’s unofficial national anthem.
