John Lanchbery was one of the most influential personalities of the 20th-century’s ballet milieu, as conductor, artistic director of ballet companies and arranger. At the end of the 60s, star dancer Rudolf Nureyev asked him to re-work on Minkus’ famous Don Quixote, which performance with the Australian Ballet was filmed and contributed to the dancer’s glory and the conductor’s international recognition. We release the soundtrack of this performance, conducted by Lanchbery himself, as an individual album.
