Camille Saint-Saëns, Max Bruch, Manuel de Falla, Johann Sebastian Bach
Artista protagonista:
Herbert Downes
Here is the debut recording Jacqueline du Pré made for EMI in 1962 after signing her first contract: an EP of standards of the cello repertoire (Saint-Saëns’ The Swan, Bruch’s Kol Nidrei, Falla’s Jota and pieces of Bach) performed with the greatest accompanists such as Gerald Moore or the guitarist John Williams. It is coupled with works for viola by Herbert Downes, first viola of various major British orchestras such as the Philharmonia or the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, made available for the first time in digital.
