Artista protagonista:
Monteverdi-Chor Hamburg, Gustav Leonhardt, Leonhardt Consort
We continue highlighting the music of Heinrich Schütz in commemoration of the 350th anniversary of his passing (November 6th). This week’s release is dedicated to music inspired by the Passion. Die sieben Worte is the earliest known independent musical setting of Christ’s seven last words, which has gone down in glorious musical posterity. Sung by the Monteverdi-Chor Hamburg, it is accompanied by Gustav Leonhardt at the organ and his Leonhardt-Consort. The album also features the a cappella St Luke’s Passion, a work of an outstanding depth and sobriety.
