We are commemorating on January 13th the fiftieth anniversary of Corsican composer Henri Tomasi’s passing. An unclassifiable figure of modern French music, deeply inspired by his Mediterranean roots, Tomasi composed many works for wind and brass instruments. In particular, his trumpet concerto, declared “unplayable” when first published, is one of the most praised piece of the whole repertoire. We release the recording premiere of the work by trumpet superstar Maurice André (the album is accompanied by works from Charles Chaynes, including the digital premiere of a work for flute and orchestra performed by Jean-Pierre Rampal).
