Camille Maurane was undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary French singers of the 1950s and 1960s, with a sharp sense of poetry, very articulate diction, and bright vocal color. His musicianship found in Gabriel Fauré’s repertoire of mélodies the fertile ground in which blossoming admirably, and he is widely considered as one of the greatest performers of Fauré’s songs in musica history. This collection performed with sough-after accompanist Lily Bienvenu includes the great late cycles Mirages and L’Horizon chimérique as well as beautiful, isolated pieces such as Le Don silencieux.
