Elegant dinner music: In 1733 Telemann gave a collection of overtures, suites and concertos the epithet ‘Musique de table’. He did this mainly for business reasons; charming music to accompany fine dining always sold outstandingly! His Tafelmusiken are entertaining masterpieces of baroque chamber music, which with their multi-instrumental orchestration make for a most enjoyable musical experience, not only in a festive banquet setting but also in the concert hall.
