Frank Peter Zimmermann often stated how moved he felt upon learning of the passing of Nathan Milstein, who he described as the most influential violinist on his style and on the development of his musical sensitivity. The year later, he would dedicate his recording of Glazunov and Dvořák’s concertos to Milstein, who was a fierce advocate of these two masterworks of Slavic romanticism. Zimmermann’s flawless technique and expressivity is perfectly well matched with the refined conducting of Franz Welser-Möst.
