Louis Marchand, Nicolas Lebègue
The church of Caudebec-en-Caux, Normandy, halfway between Rouen and Le Havre, is one of the purest examples of late French Gothic. It houses a sumptuous organ whose casework is an absolute masterpiece of cabinetmaking, perfectly suited for French baroque music. Marie-Claire Alain recorded two magnificent recitals on this instrument, dedicated to the great keyboardists Louis Marchand and Nicolas Lebègue, from the generation of Grigny and Couperin.
