Among the highlights of our great conductors’ series, this one certainly holds a special place! If Carlo Maria Giulini’s official collaboration with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra only lasted three little years, the conductor was an old-established partner of the American orchestra he often described as the most beautiful he ever performed with. We can feel deeply this osmosis in the recordings from the early 70s, when Giulini was principal guest conductor, in particular in this majestic Mahler’s Titan Symphony.
