Pianist John Ogdon, who was himself a prolific composer, was a relentless champion of contemporary music. In this compilation of piano works written by British composers mostly dated from after the Second War, Ogdon reveals the overflowing vitality of British music in those days. This album, fully made of previously digitally-unreleased material, includes notably the impressionist Suite of Richard Hall, who has taught composition to an entire generation of British musicians, including Maxwell Davies, Birtwistle, Goehr, all featured here, and John Ogdon himself.
