The pianist Jeanne-Marie Darré was the pupil of the greatest French musicians of their time, from Gabriel Fauré to Camille Saint-Saëns. She kept for the latter an intense admiration, performing his five concertos from the beginning of her concert career, and remains the first to have put the complete cycle on record, accompanied by Louis Fourestier. This historical version is still considered one of the best ever recorded. It is coupled with the surprising Septet (featuring the Quatuor Pascal and Roger Delmotte).
