Here is a very interesting document of Stravinsky's works conducted by himself. The composer often asserted his distrust of performers, who according to him, were unable to do justice to his talent. He therefore recorded his own works many times, particularly in famous American Columbia sessions, but also - less well-known - for His Master’s Voice before the Second War. Here are his own renditions of Firebird and Petrushka with unknown orchestras, and of the instrumental suite of the Soldiers’ Tale surrounded by famous French musicians such as Marcel Darrieux.
