Charles-Marie Widor, Marcel Dupré, Naji Hakim, Roger-Ducasse
Final re-issue of our Wayne Marshall retrospective! All the albums recorded for EMI and Virgin by this incredible keyboardist are now available individually, with original artworks. The main course of this album, focusing on French Romantic and modern organ pieces, are two spectacular and ambitious organ pieces by Widor and Dupré, eminent representatives of the French tradition of the “Symphonie pour orgue”. The program is enhanced by the very technically demanding Pastorale by Roger-Ducasse and a piece by Franco-Lebanese contemporary composer Naji Hakim.
It is one of the earliest recordings made on the massive instrument of the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, where Wayne Marshall has been organist in residence since 1996.
