Concertos for orchestra and tuba are rare, and Ralph Vaughan Williams' 1954 Tuba Concerto was only the first of its kind. Vaughan Williams' romantic, quintessentially British work is a true showcase for the tuba with virtuoso cadenzas in the first and third movements. Perry Hoogendijk performs the Tuba Concerto with his colleagues from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under the direction of conductor Dima Slobodeniouk.
