Warner Classics is proud to announce the signing of the US-based ensemble Annie Moses Band, a family of musicians that has been delighting and surprising audiences over the past decade with a unique, genre-defying brand of classical Americana.
These Juilliard-trained musicians named the group after their great-grandmother, Annie Moses, a formidable woman who inspired them to pursue a career of music-making together. The six Wolaver siblings are not only superb instrumentalists but also skilled arrangers and singer-songwriters, creating a special family recipe of classical music, country, folk and bluegrass.
The Annie Moses Band features Annie Dupre on lead vocals and violin, Alex on viola, Benjamin on cello, and multi-instrumentalists Camille (harp, piano), Gretchen (violin, mandolin and guitar) and Jeremiah (guitars). Their Warner Classics debut American Rhapsody, to be released in September, will take listeners on a high-energy journey through folksong and classical favorites: a sultry southern ‘Summertime’ and another Gershwin hit with a Nashville twist, Rhapsody in Bluegrass; Psalm of Life based on Dvořák’s American Quartet; the 'Hoedown' from Aaron Copland’s Rodeo, traditional songs including the evergreen Shenandoah, and originals composed by the siblings themselves.
“It is rare to find a label partner dedicated foremost to great music,” the group said of the signing. “We are thrilled to have found such a partnership in the Warner Classics team. We look forward to many years of exceptional music-making together.”
On the 4th of July, the Annie Moses Band embarks on an American Rhapsody tour with fifteen performances in the United States. The album American Rhapsody is available in September.
