The piece is based on a quite ferocious melodic fragment consisting of cascades of trills that slowly build up in several repetitions. Continuing the idea of a dichotomy, this motif contrasts with its recurring and prolonged echo. As Carlos silently presses the keys during the reverberation, it brings the sympathetic strings to resonate that make the preceding melodic fragment seem like its own silhouette.
In March 2022, Carlos Cipa visited the famous piano manufacturing workshop „Klangmanufaktur“ in Hamburg to play and record on one of their incredibly beautiful instruments. They collect old and worn-out sometimes unplayable Steinway grand pianos and completely restore them to make them once more a perfect concert instrument.
Excited about discovering these idiosyncratic instruments, Cipa decided to compose and record two songs in the workshop. He performed these pieces in on „KM133“, a recently restored Steinway C grand piano built in 1925.
